Pranar Oils and Chemicals India Private Limited owns and operates Its Mini Refinery Unit in The Industrial Suburb Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu with a processing capacity of 100,000 Metric Tonnes Per Annum.

The Facility was commissioned in 2007 with a crude refining capacity of 50,000 MT per Annum which has been now upgraded to 100,000 MT per Annum.

Crude Oil procured from various Indigenous and Imported Sources is first processed in the Crude Distillation Unit where it is heated up to around 360 to 400 Degree C depending on the type of crude oil after removing impurities, water and other sediments. Crude oil is then fractionated in a distillation column where lighter fractions such as Naphtha, Mineral Turpentine Oil, Light Diesel Oil, Furnace Oil and Heavy Bottom Residue is Separated. The products are routed to respective storage locations after cooling to atmospheric temperature.

These products are evacuated to the market and the end use customers, moved through bulk tankers.

POC India has commissioned and implemented various modern processes and technology to meet the growing market demand and keep the prices most competitive. Procedures for commissioning and start-up of the unit have been well laid out and enshrined in various customised operating manuals, which are continually updated by the skilled technical team of POC.

POC INDIA has an ambitious growth plan for capacity augmentation, de-bottlenecking, bottom upgradation and quality upgradation.

On the environment front, POC INDIA refinery fully complies with the statutory requirements. Several Clean Development Mechanism have also been initiated. To address concerns on safety at the work place, best HSE policy have been implemented and is audited, upgraded from time to time.

Mineral Turpentine Oil (MTO)

MTO, is also known by various names like spirit, White spirit and Turpentine Oil. MTO’s Solvent power is used to dissolve resins, rubber, and bitumen and also to reduce the viscosity of the solutions produced. MTO is used predominantly in the Paint industry.

MTO is a colourless petroleum solvent mainly comprising of aliphatic hydrocarbons. It is chemically stable, noncorrosive, with medium evaporating qualities. On evaporation, it does not leave behind any non-volatile residue. It is sweet-smelling and has a low aromatic content.

P-MTO is the brand name of Mineral Turpentine Oil marketed by POC INDIA in bulk. We also market it in 210 Litre barrels as per the customer requirement.

POC INDIA has adopted the MAKE IN INDIA policy which helps the Indian Import bill on import of petroleum products.

  • Thinner for oil-soluble rust preventives
  • Solvent for metal and machine degreasing/Industrial cleaning
  • Washing agent in Bearings
  • Adhesives in Plastic Industry
  • Carrier for rust-proofing compounds
  • Solvent for wax, rubber and resins in the manufacture of electrical insulating compounds
  • Solvent for insecticidal formulations
  • Diluents for many types of waterproofing, mothproofing, binding and sealing compounds.

Light Diesel Oil (LDO)

POC India markets various market various fuels for all Industrial users. LDO is a blend of distillates feed and residual oil. It is primarily recommended for stationary or slow speed diesel engines and as Industrial Fuel. LDO is used in medium and slow speed diesel engines with less than 750 rpm typically. Light Diesel Oil (LDO) is a Class C product, under PESO classification.

The LDO (Light Diesel Oil) consists of Medium length chains of hydrogen and carbon mainly alkanes, cycloalkanes, aromatics and oils.

Furnace Oil (FO)

Furnace oil is a dark viscous residual fuel obtained by blending mainly heavier components from crude distillation unit. As per IS 1593:2018 specification, Furnace Oil is classified into four grades – LV, MV1, MV2 and HV. FO falls under the category of Class C, under PESO classification.

It is used primarily for steam boilers in Industrial plants, power plants, aboard ships.

The furnaces which are used mainly for heating or pre-heating a large quantity of metal, other industrial processes are the main users of FO.

PESO Class Class-C

Applications of FO:

  • FO is mainly used as a Fuel for combustion equipment in Industries for firing Boilers, Thermic Fluid Heaters, Industrial Furnaces, Foundry furnaces, Glass furnaces etc.
  • Slow-speed engines for captive power generation.
  • Steam Raising- In the process industry and thermal power stations.
  • Industrial Furnaces- Metallurgical furnaces, pottery and brick kilns, glass furnaces etc.
  • Special Applications- In marine engines and slow speed engines for power generation, For drying tea leaves, In gas turbines for power generation, As a feed stock for fertiliser manufacturing, In thermic fluid heaters and hot air generators.
